Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th the 28th of October, 1967. Roberts is part of four generations of the Robertses who reside in the Atlanta area, starting in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was a young man when he began to take an interest in theater. He was a part of his Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions around Atlanta. He joined the air force in 1953. While being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi, he was a part of the military's production, which featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in the air force. In 1955, the couple got married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was a student at Tulane University at New Orleans in the year 1957, after they had separated from the US Air Force. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local television that was aimed at children, named Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. This was a project that they funded themselves. In 1964, Betty Lou and Walter founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for 6 years. They welcomed in 1965 two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
